요 4:24 하나님은 영이시니, 경배하는 사람들은 영 안에서 진실함으로 경배해야 합니다.

계 22:17 그 영과 신부께서 말씀하십니다. “오십시오! 이 말씀을 듣는 사람도 ‘오십시오!’라고 말하십시오. 목마른 사람은 오십시오. 원하는 사람은 다 생명수를 거저 받아 마시십시오.”

John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.

Rev. 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And let him who hears say, Come! And let him who is thirsty come; let him who wills take the water of life freely.

요한복음 4장 23절과 24절에서 주 예수님은 경배에 관한 질문을 던진 사마리아 여자에게 “그러나 참된 경배자들이 영 안에서 진실함으로 아버지께 경배할 때가 오고 있는데, 바로 지금입니다. 왜냐하면 아버지는 이렇게 경배하는 사람들을 찾으시기 때문입니다. 하나님은 영이시니, 경배하는 사람들은 영 안에서 진실함으로 경배해야 합니다.”라고 말씀하셨다. 주님의 말씀은 우리가 하나님께 경배해야 한다는 것을 분명히 계시한다. 그러나 어떻게 그분께 경배할 것인지에 관한 질문이 여전히 남아 있다. … 경배에 관한 종교적인 모든 방법들은 잘못된 것이다. 요한복음 4장의 사마리아 여자도 하나님께 경배하는 방법에 관하여 잘못된 관념을 붙들었다. 주 예수님은 그녀에게 하나님께 드리는 합당한 경배가 어떤 물질적인 장소에 있지 않고 우리의 영 안에 있음을 계시하셨다.

요한복음 4장에 의하면, 우리의 영 안에서 하나님께 경배하는 것은 그분을 마시는 것이다. 하나님을 여러분이 영 안에서 경배하는 경배의 대상으로 여기지 마라. 그러한 경우에 그 기관(영)은 옳지만 그 방법은 여전히 잘못된 것이다. 하나님 앞에 엎드리는 것이 그분께 경배하는 합당한 방법이 아니라 생수이신 그분을 마시는 것이 합당한 방법이다. 하나님은 우리의 객관적인 경배 대상이 되기를 원하지 않으신다. 그 대신 하나님은 우리가 마실 수 있는 생수로 오셨다. 우리가 생명수이신 그분을 마실 때 우리는 참된 방식으로 그분께 경배하는 것이다. 우리의 영으로 주님을 마시는 것이 진정으로 그분께 경배하는 것이다. In John 4:23 and 24 the Lord Jesus told the Samaritan woman, who had raised a question concerning worship, “But an hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truthfulness, for the Father also seeks such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.” The Lord’s word clearly reveals that we are to worship God. However, the question still remains concerning how to worship Him.…All the different religious ways of worship are wrong. Even the Samaritan woman in John 4held a mistaken concept of the way to worship God. The Lord Jesus revealed to her that the proper worship of God is not in a certain physical place; it is in our spirit.

According to John 4, to worship God in our spirit is to drink of Him. Do not regard God as an object of worship, which you then worship in spirit. In such a case the organ (the spirit) is right, but the way is still wrong. To prostrate ourselves before God is not the proper way to worship Him; to drink Him as the living water is. God does not want to be the object of our worship. Instead, He comes as living water for us to drink. When we drink of Him as the water of life, we worship Him in a genuine way. To drink of the Lord with our spirit is truly to worship Him.(Life-study of Exodus, pp.514-515)

주님의 상 집회는 경배를 위한 집회이다. 주님의 상에서 주님을 기념하는 것이 주님께 경배하는 것이다. 이 집회에서 주님께 경배하는 방법은 무릎을 꿇거나 엎드리는 것이 아니라 그분을 기념하며 떡을 먹고 포도주를 마시는 것이다. 먹고 마시는 것이 참된 경배를 구성한다.

하나님의 의도는 그분 자신을 우리 안으로 넣는 일을 하는 것이다. … 삼일 하나님은 우리가 그분을 먹고 마실 때 그분 자신을 우리 존재 안으로 넣는 일을 하신다. 우리의 음식과 물이신 그분은 우리 안으로 들어오셔서 유기적으로 우리와 하나가 되신다. 우리가 먹고 마심으로 우리 안으로 취한 것은 이렇게 우리와 하나가 된다. 그것은 우리의 세포에 스며들어 우리의 유기적인 섬유 조직이 된다. 우리가 먹고 마심으로 말미암아 섭취한 음식이 소화되고 동화될 때 그것은 우리의 조성 성분이 된다. 그래서 우리는 우리가 먹고 마신 것으로 조성된다. 이것은 영적인 영역과 육신적인 영역 모두에서 사실이다. 먹는 것과 마시는 것을 통하여 신부는 그 영과 하나가 된다. 요한계시록 22장 17절에 의하면 그 영과 신부는 하나로서 목마른 사람들에게 생명수를 마시라고 외쳐 말한다.

요한복음 4장에서 주 예수님은 구약의 경배 방법에 따라 전형적인 유대인들에게 말씀하시는 데 시간을 허비하지 않으셨다. 대신 그분은 하나님의 마음을 만족시키는 경배에 관하여, 부도덕할 뿐 아니라 절반은 이교도적인 여자와 대화하셨다. 이 여자는 자신의 목마름을 해결해 줄 생수이신 그분을 마심으로 자신의 영 안에서 하나님께 경배하였다. 이처럼 하나님은 그녀에게서 참된 경배를 받으셨다. 이것은 형식적이고 종교적인 경배와는 얼마나 다른가!

역대로 … 오직 소수의 사람들만이 생수이신 하나님을 마심으로 영 안에서 하나님을 경배하였다. … 이것이 하나님께 경배하는 합당한 길이다.

영 안에서 생수이신 하나님을 마심으로 하나님께 드리는 참된 경배 안으로 들어갈수록 우리는 우리의 실행이 얼마나 부족했는지를 더 인식할 것이다. … 우리에게 필요한 것은 오늘날 우리의 하나님께서 육체 되심과 인생과 십자가의 죽음과 부활과 승천과 보좌에 앉으심 등의 과정을 통과하시어 우리가 마실 수 있는 모든 것을 포함하신 생명 주시는 영이 되셨음을 보는 것이다. 그분은 그러한 복합되신 영이시며 우리는 그분을 마실 수 있는 영을 가지고 있다. 영 안에서 우리는 그분과 하나이다. 우리가 성경에 있는 신성한 계시의 초점인 이러한 이상을 볼 때, 우리는 생명수이신 주님을 마시는 법을 알게 될 것이다. The Lord’s table meeting is a meeting for worship. To remember the Lord at His table is to worship Him. The way to worship the Lord in this meeting is not to kneel down or to prostrate ourselves, but to eat the bread and drink the wine in remembrance of Him. Eating and drinking constitute real worship.

God’s intention is to work Himself into us.…The Triune God works Himself into our being as we eat and drink of Him. As our food and water, He enters into us to be one with us organically What we take into us by eating and drinking becomes one with us in this way. It penetrates our fiber and becomes our organic tissue. When the food we take in by eating and drinking is digested and assimilated, it becomes our constituent. Thus, we are a constitution of what we eat and drink. This is true both in the spiritual realm and in the physical realm. Through eating and drinking, the Bride becomes one with the Spirit. According to Revelation 22:17, the Spirit and the Bride speak as one to call those who are thirsty to drink of the water of life.

In John 4 the Lord Jesus did not spend time talking to typical Jews according to the Old Testament way of worship. Instead, He conversed with an immoral, semi-heathen woman concerning the worship which satisfies God’s heart. This woman worshipped God in her spirit by drinking of Him as the water to quench her thirst. Thus, God was worshipped by her in a genuine way. How much different this is from formal, religious worship!

Throughout the centuries…only a small number have worshipped God in spirit by drinking of Him as living water.…This is the proper way to worship Him.

The more we enter into the real worship of God by drinking Him as the living water in spirit, the more we shall realize how short our practices have been.…Our need is to see that our God to day has passed through the process of incarnation, human living, crucifixion, resurrection, ascension, and enthronement to become the all-inclusive life-giving Spirit for us to drink. He is such a compound Spirit, and we have a spirit with which to drink of Him. In spirit we are one with Him. If we see this vision, the focal point of the divine revelation in the Bible, we shall know how to drink the Lord as the water of life.
