Acts 1:21-22 …Of the men who accompanied us all the time in which the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us, beginning from the baptism of Johnuntil the day on which He was taken up from us, one of these should become a witness of His resurrection with us.

4:33 And with great power the apostles gave testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great garce was upon them all.

Acts 27:13-26 describes the storm and Paul’s prediction of safety....[Verse 20 says], “From then on all hope that we might be saved was being abandoned.”…Paul then stood in their midst and said, O men, you should have listened to me and not set sail from Crete and incurred this damage and loss.” Although Paul was a prisoner in bonds, his behavior displayed much ascendancy with dignity. Luke’s narration, as an account of the Lord’s move on earth, does not stress doctrine but the testimony of the Lord’s witnesses (1:8). Hence, in his narration there are no details of doctrines but of the events that occurred to His witnesses, in order to portray their testimonies in their lives. It is especially so with Paul’s voyage in the last two chapters. Here Paulwas a witness of the Lord. Therefore, we should not read Luke’s account merely as a story of a storm at sea. Rather, we need to see in this story the description of the life of one of Christ’s living witnesses. (Life study of Acts, pp. 610-611)

Speaking of Judas, Peter…[says] in Acts 1:17, “For he was numbered among us and was allottedhis portion of this ministry.” “This ministry,” mentioned also in verse 25, is the ministry to bear the testimony of Jesus (v. 8). Though the apostles were twelve in number, their ministry was uniquely one?this ministry, a corporate ministry in the principle of the Body of Christ. All the apostles carried out the same ministry to bear the testimony not of any religion, doctrine, or practice, but uniquely of the incarnated, resurrected, and ascended Jesus Christ, the Lord of all.

Peter went onto say, “It is necessary therefore that of the men who accompanied us all the time inwhich the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day on which He was taken up from us, one of these should become a witness of His resurrection with us” (vv. 21-22). The Lord’s resurrection is the focus of the apostles’ testimony. It refers back to His incarnation, humanity, human living on earth, and God ordained death(2:23), and points forward to His ascension, ministry and administration in heaven, and coming back. Thus the apostles’ testimony of Jesus Christ, the Lord of all, is all-inclusive, as depicted in the whole book of Acts. They preached and ministered the all-inclusive Christ as revealed in the entire Scripture.

Acts 2:24 says that it was not possible for the Lord to be held by death. The Lord is both God and resurrection (John 1:1; 11:25), possessing the indestructible life (Heb. 7:16). Because He is such an ever-living One, death is not able to hold Him. He delivered Himself to death, but death had no way to detain Him; rather, death was defeated by Him, and He rose up from it.

In Acts 2:32 Peter gives a concluding word concerning Christ’s resurrection: “This Jesus God has raised up, of which we all are witnesses.” The Greek word for “which” here may also be rendered “whom.” The apostles were witnesses of the resurrected Christ, not in word only, but also by their life and action. Especially they bore witness of His resurrection (4:33), which is the crucial focus in carrying out God’s New Testament economy.

Acts 4:33 says, “And with great power the apostles gave testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.”…Actually, grace is God Himself enjoyed by man. Grace is the resurrected Christ becoming the life-giving Spirit (1 Cor. 15:45) to bring the processed God in resurrection into us to be our life and life supply so that we may live in resurrection. Therefore, grace is the Triune God becoming life and everything to us. (Life-study 0f Acts, pp. 40, 78-79, 135-136)
