신언하는 것은 하나님과 그리스도를 위하여 말하고, 하나님과 그리스도를 말해 내는 것이다. 이렇게 말하는 것은 하나님과 그리스도의 말씀하시는 영과 협력하는 것이다(삼하 23:2, 행 6:10). 성경은 하나님께서 말씀하시는 하나님이신 것을 밝혀준다. 히브리서 1장 1절과 2절은 “하나님께서 옛날에는 신언자들을 통하여 여러 부분과 여러 방식으로 우리 조상들에게 말씀하셨으나, 이 마지막 날에는 아들 안에서 우리에게 말씀하셨습니다.”라고 말한다. 하나님은 말 못하는 하나님이 아니시다. 그분은 항상 말씀하신다. 우주 안에서 가장 높고 가장 위대한 말씀은 성경이다. 이 성경에는 육십육 권의 하나님의 말씀이 들어있다.

우리는 말씀하시는 하나님을 소유하고 있으며, 이 말씀하시는 하나님은 말하는 사람들을 얻고자 갈망하신다. 하나님은 말씀하시기를 갈망하시고, 그분의 영은 우리가 말하기를 기다리고 계신다. … 그러나 전통적인 기독교는 성도들을 벙어리로 만들었다. 매주일 아침마다 성당이나 예배당에서는 오직 한 사람이 말하고 다른 모든 사람들은 침묵한다. 이것은 너무나 오랜 세월 동안 계속되었기 때문에 그리스도인들이 단지 한 사람의 말을 들으러 교회에 가는 것이 전통과 관습과 습관이 되어 왔다. 우리는 모두 일어나서 이런 관습을 뒤집을 필요가 있다. To prophesy is to speak for God and Christ and to speak forth God and Christ. Tospeak in this wayistocooperatewiththe speaking Spirit of God and Christ (2 Sam. 23:2; Acts 6:10). The Bible unveils to us that God is a speaking God. Hebrews 1:1-2 says, “God, having spoken of old in many portions and in many ways to the fathers in the prophets, has at the last of these days spoken to us in the Son.” God is not a dumb God; He is always speaking. The highest and greatest speaking in the universe is the Bible, which contains sixty-six books of God’s speaking.

We have a speaking God, and this speaking God desires to have a speaking people. God desires to speak, and His Spirit is waiting for us to speak.…[However], traditional Christianity has caused the saints to become dumb. Each Sunday morning in the cathedrals and chapels only one person is speaking, and all the others are silent.This has continued for so many years that it has become the tradition, custom, and habit of Christians to go to church simply to listen to one speaker. We all need to rise up and overthrow this custom. (The Practice of Prophesying, pp. 40-41)

그 영은 우리와 함께, 우리를 통해 말씀하시도록 항상 준비되어 계시고 또 그렇게 하시기를 기대하고 계신다. 그러나 우리는 언제나 그 영과 협력하여 말하는 것은 아니다. 우리는 집회에 올 때마다 말하려고 노력해야 한다. 좋은 의미에서 우리가 합당하게 말하든 그렇지 못하든, 잘 말하든 그렇지 못하든 간에 그것은 문제가 되지 않는다. 우리가 말한다면 하나님은 기뻐하실 것이다. 부모들은 항상 그들의 어린 자녀가 말하는 것을 듣기를 좋아한다. … 어떤 사람이 말할 때, 심지어 잘못 말하더라도 그는 다른 사람들에게 공급하는 것을 배우고 있는 것이다.

그 영과 함께 말하도록 협력하는 데 방해가 되는 장애물은 우리의 기질과 습관을 지닌 우리의 타고난 사람이다. 우리의 타고난 사람과 기질과 습관은 우리를 속이는 ‘삼일성’으로서, 우리의 기능과 유용성을 무효화시키기 위해 우리 안에서 일하고 있다. 우리는 교회 안에 있기 위해 많은 것을 희생했으며 많은 것을 버렸다. 그러나 우리는 너무 조용하게 여기에 모여 있는 것 같다. 이것은 우리의 타고난 사람과 함께 우리의 기질과 습관 때문이다.

우리의 장애물을 이기는 길은 우리의 타고난 사람과 함께 우리의 기질과 습관을 거절하는 것이다. 만일 우리가 조용한 사람이라면 조용한 우리의 타고난 사람을 거절해야 한다. 즉 우리 자신과 반대로 행하는 것이다. 우리의 장애물을 이기는 길은 또한 십자가를 지는 것을 배우는 것이다. 우리는 십자가에 못 박혔다(롬 6:6, 갈 2:20). 그러므로 십자가에 머물러 있어야 한다. (신언의 실행, 47-49쪽)

결국 구약과 신약은 모두 이기는 이들로 끝을 맺는다. 예표의 시대에 이기는 이들은 신언자들이었다. … 이것은 요한계시록에서 성취된다. 주 예수님은 교회가 철저하게 그리고 크게 실패할 것임을 아셨다. 단지 교회 자체만으로는 하나님의 경륜을 성취할 것이라는 어떤 소망도 가질 수 없으셨다. 그래서 주님은 교회들에게 보내신 일곱 서신에서 나팔을 부시어 이기는 이들을 부르셨다. 이 책의 단 두 장에서 주님은 “이기는 이에게는”이라는 말씀을 일곱 차례나 반복하셨다. 이것은 각각의 일곱 서신 끝에서 반복된다(계 2:7, 11, 17, 26, 3:5, 12, 21).

바로 이기는 이들이 신언자들의 예표의 성취이다. 그러므로 사도 바울은 교회가 어떻게 집회를 해야 하는지에 관해 이야기할 때, 신언하기를 강조하고 높인다(고전 14:1, 3-6,24, 31, 39). 신언하는 것, 곧 그리스도를 사람들 안으로 말해 넣는 것은 여러분을 이기는 이가 되게 한다. 신언하는 것은 이기는 이들의 기능이다. (하나님의 계시의 최고봉에 따른 생활을 삶, 16-17쪽)

The Spirit is always ready and expects to speak with us and through us, but we always would not cooperate with the Spirit to speak. Whenever we come to the meeting we must try to speak. In a good sense,it does not matter whether we speak properly or wrongly, well or poorly. As long as we speak, God will be happy. Parents always like to hear their young children speak.…When someone speaks, even incorrectly, he is learning to minister to others.

Our obstacle in cooperating to speak with the Spirit is our natural man with our disposition and habit. Our natural man, our disposition, and our habit form a deceitful “trinity” that works within us to annul our function and our usefulness. We have sacrificed much and left many things behind to be in the church. However, we maybehereinasilent way. This is duetoour natural man with our disposition and habit.
 

The way to overcome ourobstacleistobeagainst ournatural man with our disposition and habit. If we are quiet persons, we must be against our natural man with its quietness;that is,we must be against ourselves. The way to overcome our obstacle is also to learn to take the cross. We have been crucified on the cross (Rom.6:6;Gal.2:20),and we should remain on the cross.(The Practice of Prophesying, pp. 42-44)

Eventually, both the Old and New Testaments end with the overcomers. In the age of typology, the overcomers were the prophets.…This is fulfilled in Revelation.…The Lord Jesus realized that the church was a great and complete failure. Just by the church in itself, there was no hope for the carrying out of God’s economy.So in His seven epistles to the churches, He sounded the trumpet to call the overcomers.In that one book,in just two chapters, the Lord repeated the following word seven times: he who overcomes. This is repeated at the end of each of the seven epistles (Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 26; 3:5, 12, 21).

These overcomers are the fulfillment of the typology of the prophets. Therefore, when the apostle Paul was talking about how the church should meet, he stressed and uplifted prophesying (1 Cor. 14:1, 3-6, 24, 31, 39). Prophesying makes you an overcomer. Speaking Christ into people is prophesying. Prophesying is the function of the overcomers. (Living a Life according to the High Peak of God’s Revelation, pp. 9-10)
