골 1:18 또한 그분은 몸인 교회의 머리이십니다. 그분은 시작이시며, 죽은 사람들 가운데 가장 먼저 나신 분이십니다. 이것은 그분 자신께서 만물 가운데서 으뜸이 되시기 위한 것이었습니다.

Col.1:18 And He is the Head of the Body, the church; He is the beginning, the Firstborn from the dead, that He Himself might have the first place in all things.

신성한 경륜 안에서 그리스도는 만물 안에서 으뜸이 되시는 분이시다. 골로새서는 그리스도께서 모든 것에서 첫째 위치를 가지신 으뜸이시라는 것을 계시한다(골 1:18). … 첫째 창조물과 새 창조물에서 그리스도는 첫째 위치를 차지하신다. 골로새서 1장 15절에서 우리는 그리스도께서 모든 창조물 중에 가장 먼저 나신 분이시고, 18절에서는 그리스도께서 죽은 사람들 가운데서 가장 먼저 나신 분이시라는 것을 본다. 하나님의 새 창조는 부활로 말미암는다. 그리스도께서 새 창조물에서 으뜸이 되신다는 것은 그분께서 부활 안에서 첫째이시라는 것을 의미한다. 그리스도께서 창조와 부활에서 첫째이시라는 것은 그분께서 옛 창조물인 우주와 새 창조물인 교회에서 첫째이시라는 것을 의미한다. 우주는 그리스도를 표현하는 그리스도의 몸인 교회가 존재하는 환경이다. 그리스도는 몸인 교회 안에서 첫째이실 뿐 아니라 환경인 우주 안에서도 첫째이시다. 이것은 그분께서 모든 것에서 첫째, 곧 으뜸이심을 의미한다. In the divine economy Christ is the One having the preeminence in all things. The book of Colossians reveals that Christ is preeminent, that He has the first place in everything [Col. 1:18]. …Both in the first creation and in the new creation Christ occupies the first place. In Colossians 1:15 we are told that Christ is the Firstborn of all creation, and in verse 18, that He is the Firstborn from among the dead. The new creation of God is by resurrection. For Christ to be preeminent in the new creation means that He is the first in resurrection. That Christ is the first both in creation and in resurrection means that He is the first both in the

old creation, the universe, and in the new creation, the church. The universe is the environment in which the church exists as the Body of Christ to express Christ. Christ is first not only in the church, the Body, but also first in the environment, the universe. This means that He is first, preeminent, in everything. 우리는 신성한 경륜 안에서 그리스도께서 옛 창조물과 새 창조물에서 첫째 위치, 으뜸의 위치를 차지하고 계신다는 것을 볼 필요가 있다. 우주 안에서나 교회 안에서 그리스도는 으뜸이신 분이시다. 우리가 단지 교리가 아닌 이상으로 이것을 본다면 우리의 생활과 우리의 교회생활은 혁신될 것이다. 우리는 모든 것 안에서 그리스도께서 반드시 첫째가 되셔야 한다는 것을 깨달을 것이다. 그분은 우리의 결혼생활과 가정생활, 직장생활, 학교생활에서 반드시 첫째가 되셔야 한다. 그분은 우주 안에서, 교회 안에서, 우리 일상생활의 모든 면에서 반드시 으뜸이 되셔야만 한다.

골로새서 1장 18절에서 바울은 그리스도에 대해 “이것은 그분 자신께서 만물 가운데서 으뜸이 되시기 위한 것이었습니다.”라고 말한다. 성경에서 첫째가 된다는 것은 모든 것이 되는 것이다. 그리스도께서 우주와 교회 안에서 첫째가 되시기 때문에 그분은 우주와 교회에서 모든 것이 되셔야 한다. 첫째이신 그분은 모든 것이시다. 하나님께서 일을 인식하는 방식은 우리와 다르다. 우리의 판단에 따르면 그리스도께서 첫째이시라면 순서대로 다른 어떤 것이 두 번째, 세 번째로 있어야 한다. 그러나 하나님의 관점에서 그리스도께서 첫째가 되신다는 것은 그분께서 모든 것이심을 의미한다.

하나님은 그분의 경륜 안에서 그분의 목적을 성취하시기 위해 우주를 다스리신다. 하나님의 목적은 그리스도께서 만물 안에서 으뜸의 지위를 갖도록 하시는 것이다. 그러므로 하나님의 의도는 그리스도께서 으뜸이 되시는 것이다. 그리스도께서 으뜸의 지위를 가진 분이되시기 위해서는 하나님께 한 백성이 필요하시다. 하나님께서 한 백성을 얻지 못하시면, 그리스도께서 으뜸이 되실 길이 전혀 없다.

그리스도께서 으뜸이 되시도록 하나님께서 그분의 백성으로 선택하신 이들인 우리는 하나님의 하늘에 속한 통치 아래 있다. … 이것은 우리의 개인적인 우주 안에 있는 일들에 관하여 특히 그러하다. 우리의 우주는 우리 자신과 우리의 가족과 교회를 포함한다. 우리의 우주에서는 그리스도를 으뜸이 되시게 할 목적으로 많은 일들이 매일매일 발생하고 있다. (다니엘서 라이프 스타디, 메시지 12, 88-89쪽)

We need to see that in the divine economy Christ occupies the first place, the place of preeminence, in both the old creation and the new creation. Both in the universe and in the church Christ is the preeminent One. If we see this as a vision, not as a mere doctrine, our living and our church life will be revolutionized. We shall realize that in all things Christ must be the first.He must be the first in our married life, family life, business life, and school life.He must have the preeminence in the universe,in the church, and in every aspect of our daily living.

In Colossians 1:18 Paul says concerning Christ, “That He Himself might have the first place in all things.” In the Bible to be the first is to be all. Because Christ is the first both in the universe and in the church, He must be all things in the universe and in the church. As the first, He is all. God’s way of reckoning in this matter is different from ours. According to our estimation, if Christ is the first, then something else should be the second, third, and others in sequence. However, from God’s point of view, for Christ to be the first means that He is all.

The first Adam included not only Adam as an individual but all of mankind.…Therefore, for Christ to be the Firstborn in the universe means that He is everything in the universe. In like manner, for Christ to be the Firstborn in resurrection means that He is everything in resurrection. For Christ to be the Firstborn both of the old creation and of the new creation means that He is everything both in the old creation and the new creation.This corresponds to Paul’s word in Colossians 3:11, where he says that in the new man, in the new creation, “there cannot be Greek and Jew,circumcision and uncircumcision,barbarian,Scythian,slave,

free man, but Christ is all and in all.” In the new man Christ is everyone and in everyone. In the new creation there is room only for Christ. (The Conclusion of the New Testament, pp. 260-261)

In His economy God administrates the universe in order to fulfill His purpose. His purpose is to give Christ the preeminence in all things. God’s intention, therefore, is that Christ should be preeminent. For Christ to be the preeminent One, God needs a people. Apart from God’s having a people, there is no way for Christ to be made preeminent.
 

As those who have been chosen by God to be His people for Christ’s preeminence, we are under God’s heavenly rule.…This is especially true of the things in our personal universe. Our universe includes ourselves, our families, and the church. In our universe many things happen day by day for the purpose of making Christ preeminent. (Life-study of Daniel, p. 77)
