오순절 날 시작되어 수 세대를 거쳐 바로 이 순간까지 흘러온 이 신성한 생명의 흐름은 오직 하나이다. 이것이 가는 곳마다, 이것이 흐르는 곳마다 많은 흐름들이 아니라 오직 하나의 흐름만이 있게 된다. 여러분이 사도행전을 읽어 본다면 오직 하나의 흐름, 하나의 조류만이 있다는 것을 보게 될 것이다. 이 흐름은 예루살렘에서 시작하여 안디옥으로 흘렀고, 안디옥에서 아시아로 향하여 그곳으로 흘러갔다. 그리고 어느 날 주님은 이 흐름이 유럽으로, 마케도니아로 향하길 원하셨다. … 마케도니아에서 이 흐름은 고린도로, 로마로, 스페인으로, 유럽 각 지역으로 거쳐 갔다. 역사는 이 흐름이 유럽에서 서방으로, 곧 미국으로 흘러갔고, 서방에서 동방과 남방으로 흘러갔음을 말해 준다. …이 흐름은 결코 멈춘 적이 없다. 그리고 이 흐름이 흐르는 곳마다, 오직 하나의 흐름만이 있었음을 볼 수 있다. 이것은 예루살렘에서 하나였고, 안디옥에서, 아시아에서, 유럽에서, 이 흐름이 흐르는 모든 곳에서 하나였다. 결코 두 흐름이 없었다. …오직 하나의 흐름이 있으며, 여러분은 이 한 흐름 안에 자신을 지켜야 한다. The flowing of the divine life, which started on the day of Pentecost and has been flowing throughout all generations to this very day, is just one stream.Wherever it goes, wherever it flows, it is not many streams, it is only one. Read the book of Acts and there you will see that there is one stream, one current. This stream started from Jerusalem and flowed to Antioch, and from Antioch it turned to Asia andwas flowing there. Then one day the Lord wanted the stream to strike forth into Europe, to Macedonia.…From Macedonia the stream went in its path to Corinth, to Rome, to Spain, and to all parts of Europe. History tells us that from Europe it flowed to the West, to America; and from the West it flowed to the East and to the South.…This flowing stream has never been stopped, and we notice that everywhere this stream flowed, it was just one. It was one in Jerusalem, one to Antioch, one to Asia, one to Europe, and one everywhere it has flowed.…There have never been two streams. There is only one stream, and you have to keep yourself in this one stream. (The Divine Stream, pp. 12-13)

여러분이 사도행전과 사도 바울이 쓴 서신들을 읽어 본다면, 그 당시에 복음을 전파하고 주님을 위해 일한사람들 중에 많은 이들이 이 흐름 안에 있지 않았던 것을 보게 될 것이다. …빌립보서 1장에서 바울은, 시기로 복음을 전파하는 어떤 사람들이 있다고 말하였다. 그런 이들은 복음을 전하였지만 사도와 함께 일하지 않았다. … 그들은…성령의 한 흐름 안에 있지 않았다. …바나바를 생각해 보라. 처음에 바나바는 사도 바울과 함께 일하였다. 그들은 둘 다 함께 한 흐름 안에 있었다. 그러나 함께 사역한 지 얼마 지난 후에, 바나바는 어떤 이유로 한 흐름 안에서 사도 바울과 같이 동역해 나가는 데에 동의하지 않게 되었다. 그 결과 그 둘은 갈라졌다. 여러분은 사도행전에서 그렇게 나누어진 이후 바나바의 기록을 찾을 수 있는가? 찾을 수 없다! …그가 여전히 주님을 위해 일했지만, 그는 흐름 밖으로 벗어나게 된 것이다. 여러분은 이 문제에 대해 분명한가? 여러분이 교회 역사를 주의 깊게 연구한다면, 수 세대를 걸쳐 항상 성령의 한 흐름만이 흐르고 있었음을 발견하게 될 것이다. 많은 사람들이 주님을 위해 일했지만 그들 모두가 이 하나의 흐름 안에서 일한 것은 아니었다. 여러분이 주님의 긍휼과 은혜를 얻는다면, 여러분은 오늘날에도 흐르고 있는 바로 이 흐름 안으로 인도될 것이다.

성령의 이 흐름이 바로 그리스도의 몸의 교통이다. 이것은 우리 신체에서 이루어지는 피의 순환과 비슷하다. 피는 항상 몸의 한 부분에서 다른 부분으로 흐르고 다시 되돌아온다. 이와 같은 방식으로 몸의 교통인 성령의 흐름은 이 땅위의 모든 성도들 가운데 흐르고 있다.

이 흐름으로부터 금과 진주와 보석이 나온다. 창세기 2장의 그림을 보자. 이 귀한 재료들은 하나님의 거처의 건축을 위한 것이다. 이 흐름이 있는 곳마다, 교회의 건축을 위한 재료가 산출될 것이다. …사도 바울은 교회가 금과 은과 보석으로 건축된다고 말한다. 이러한 것은 성령의 흐름에서 나오는 재료들이다. 요한계시록에서 우리는 새 예루살렘 성 전체가 금과 진주와 보석으로 건축된다는 것을 보았다. 그 모든 재료들이 어떻게 존재하게 되었는가? 그것들은 단지 신성한 생명의 흐름으로부터 산출된 것이다. …단지 신성한 생명의 흐름만이, 성령의 흐름만이 그 일을 할 수 있다. 이 흐름은 수 세대를 거쳐 흘러왔으며, 오늘날에도 흐르고 있다. 그리고 이 흐름이 흐르는 곳마다, 하나님의 건축을 위해 금과 진주와 보석들이 산출되는 것이다. If you read the Acts and the Epistles written by the apostle Paul, you will see that quite a number of people at that time who were preaching the gospel and working for the Lord were not in the stream.…In Philippians 1 the apostle tells us that there were some who preached the gospel because ofenvy.They were preaching the gospel, but they were not working together with the apostle;… they were not in the one stream of the Holy Spirit.…Consider Barnabas. At the beginning Barnabas was working with the apostle Paul. Both were in the one stream. But after a certain time, Barnabas for some reason would not agree to go along with the apostle Paul. The two were divided. Do you find any record in the Acts of Barnabas after that division? No!…He was still working for the Lord, but he was out of the stream. Are you clear about this matter? If you study carefully the history of the church, you will find that throughout the generations there has been one stream of the Holy Spirit flowing all the time. Many have been working for the Lord, but not all have been in the flowing of that one stream. If you will accept the mercy and the grace of the Lord, you will be brought into that very stream that is flowing today.

The flowing of this stream of the Holy Spirit is the fellowship of the Body of Christ. It is similar to the circulation of the blood in our physical bodies. The blood is flowing all the time from one part to another and then back again. In just such a way is the stream of the Holy Spirit as the fellowship of the Body flowing among the saints upon this earth.

Out of the flowing of the stream come the gold, the pearls, and the precious stones. Look at the picture in Genesis chapter two. These precious substances are for the building of God’s dwelling place. Wherever the flowing is, material will be produced for the building of the church.…The apostle Paul tells us that the church is built with gold, silver, and precious stones. These are the materials that come out of the flowing of the current of the Holy Spirit. In Revelation we are told that the entire city, the New Jerusalem, is built with gold, with pearls, and with precious stones. How did all these materials come into being? Simply from the flowing of the current of the divine life.…Only the flowing of the divine life, the current of the Holy Spirit, can do this. It has been flowing through the generations and is flowing today; and wherever it goes, gold, pearls, and precious stones are produced for God’s building. (The Divine Stream, pp. 13-16)
