아 3:9-10 솔로몬 왕은 그 연을 레바논의 나무로 만들었구나. 기둥은 은으로 만들고, 바닥은 금으로 만들고, 자리는 자주색으로 되어 있구나. 그 안에는 예루살렘의 딸들의 사랑이 입혀 있구나.

S. S. 3:9-10 King Solomon made himself a palanquin of the wood of Lebanon. Its posts he made of silver, its bottom, of gold; its seat, of purple; its midst was inlaid with love from the daughters of Jerusalem.

아가서에 나오는 추구하는 이를 생각해 보자. 항상 그녀는 자라고 바뀌며 변화되고 있다. 준마에서 비둘기가 되는 것은 얼마나 놀라운 변화인가! 비둘기에서 연기 기둥으로! 연기 기둥에서 침상으로! 침상에서 연(輦)으로! 연에서 면류관으로! 이 모든 그림에서 우리는 추구하는 이의 생명이 성장하는 것을 볼 수 있다. 그녀는 솔로몬의 침상이고, ‘연’, 곧 낮 동안에 여행을 위해 사람들이 운반하는 데 사용하는 운송수단이다. 침상은 밤에 안식하기 위한 것이고, 연은 낮에 움직이기 위한 것이다. … 그녀는 예수님께서 안식하시는 처소이자 이 땅에서 예수님의 움직임을 위한 그분의 연이다! Consider the seeking one in the Song of Songs. All the time she is growing, changing, and being transformed. What a transformation? from a horse to a dove! From a dove to pillars of smoke! From the pillars of smoke to the couch! From the couch to a palanquin! And from the palanquin to a crown! In all of these figures we can see the growth in life of such a seeking one. [She is Solomon’s couch and his palanquin], a carriage which is carried by men for traveling during the day. The couch is for resting at night, and the palanquin is for moving during the day.…She is just the resting place of Jesus, and she is the carriage of Jesus for His move on this earth. 연에는 두 가지 방면, 외부 구조와 내부 장식이 있다. 솔로몬은 레바논의 나무로 연을 건축했다. 이것이 본체의 구조이다. 나무는 인성을 상징하고 레바논은 부활과 승천을 상징한다. 부활하시고 승천하신 그리스도의 인성은 레바논의 나무이다. … 연은 … 건축된 것이다. 이 건축을 위해 본체의 재료로 사용된 것은 부활과 승천 안에 있는 예수님의 인성이다. 그리스도를 담고 있는 움직이는 그릇은 타고난 출생에 속한 것이 아니라 그리스도의 부활하고 승천한 인성으로 건축된다.

더욱이 … 은으로 만들어진 기둥들과 금으로 된 바닥이 있다. 은은 주님의 구속을 상징하고, 금은 하나님의 신성한 본성을 상징한다. 그리스도의 구속은 우리를 떠받치는 힘이고, 하나님의 신성한 본성은 바로 건축의 기초가 된다. … 우리는 자신의 타고난 힘이 아닌, 그리스도의 인성과 예수님의 구속과 하나님의 신성으로 건축된 구조물이어야 한다.

솔로몬은 직접 그 연을 만들었다. 우리가 연을 만든 것이 아니다. 그리스도 외에는 어느 누구도 이러한 연을 만들 수 없다. 수년에 걸쳐 주님은 자신을 위한 연을 만드실 목적으로 우리에게 일해 오셨다. 그분은 우리의 타고난 성분에 속한 것은 어느 것도 사용하지 않으시고 그분의 인성과 그분의 구속과 하나님의 신성을 사용하신다.

우리의 책임은 단순히 우리의 사랑을 주님께 드리는 것이다. 연의 내부 장식은 예루살렘 딸들의 사랑으로 되어 있다. 우리는 주님께 우리의 사랑을 드려야 한다. 주님은 우리에게서 우리의 사랑 외에 어떤 것도 원하지 않으신다. “요한의 아들 시몬이여, 이 사람들보다 그대가 나를 더 사랑하십니까?”(요 21:15) 그분은 항상 우리의 사랑을 찾고 계시고, 우리의 사랑만이 연의 내부를 장식할 수 있다. 주 예수님은 연을 만드셨지만 연은 우리의 사랑으로 장식되었다. 기본 구조는 나무와 은과 금이지만 우리의 사랑은 내부를 장식하는 유일한 것이다. 주님을 사랑하면 할수록 우리는 우리의 성격과 개성을 잃어버리게 된다. 주님을 사랑할수록 우리는 우리의 의지를 더 잃어버리게 되지만 연의 내부는 완전히 장식될 것이다. 교회 시대 후에는 왕국 시대, 곧 그리스도의 승리를 축하하고 기뻐하는 영광의 시대가 올 것이다. 왕국 시대에는 연으로 상징되는 그리스도의 연인과 연을 탄 사람으로 상징되시는 그리스도께서 함께 연합되어 승리를 축하한다. 그리스도의 연인은 (낮인 왕국 시대에 여행하기 위한―벧후 1:19) 연, 그리스도를 위한 운송수단이다. 그리스도는 이 연을 부활하고 높여지고 고귀한 인성(레바논 나무)으로 만드시는데, 그 바닥은 하나님의 본성(금)으로 되어 있고, 그 기둥들은 그리스도의 구속(은)으로 만들어졌으며, 그 바닥은 그리스도의 왕권(자주색)으로 되어 있다(아 3:9-10). 연의 내부는 그리스도를 추구하는 이들(딸들)의 사랑으로 입혀졌는데, 이것은 그리스도의 연인이 그리스도의 몸의 원칙 안에서 그리스도를 추구하는 모든 이들과 사랑 안에서 하나라는 것을 상징한다. With the palanquin there are two aspects: the exterior structure and the interior decoration. Solomon built a palanquin of the wood of Lebanon. This is the substantial structure. Wood signifies humanity, and Lebanon signifies resurrection and ascension. The humanity of the resurrected and ascended Christ is the wood of Lebanon.…The palanquin…is something built up.

…The substantial material used for this building is the humanity of Jesus in resurrection and ascension. The moving vessel of Christ is not of natural birth, but something built with the resurrected and ascended humanity of Christ. Moreover, there [are]…also the pillars of silver and the golden bottom. Silver signifies the Lord’s redemption, and gold, God’s divine nature. The redemption of Christ is our supporting strength, and the divine nature of God is the very base of our building.…We must be such a builded structure, not with our natural strength, but with the humanity of Christ, the redemption of Jesus, and the divinity of God.

Solomon made the palanquin himself. It is not that we make it. No one can make such a palanquin except Christ Himself. Throughout the years, the Lord has been working on us with the intention to make a palanquin for Himself. He does not use anything of our natural make-up, but He uses His humanity, His redemption, and the divinity of God.

Our responsibility is simply to offer our love to Him. The interior decoration of the palanquin was fitted with love from the daughters of Jerusalem. We must offer our love to the Lord.

He does not want anything from us other than our love. “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?”(John21:15).He is always seeking our love, and only our love affords something for the interior decoration of the palanquin. The Lord Jesus made it, but it is decorated with our love. The basic structure is of wood, silver, and gold, but our love is the only thing with which the interior is decorated. The more we love Him, the more we will lose our character and personality. The more we love Him, the more we will lose our will, but the interior of the palanquin will be fully decorated. After the church age there will be the age of the kingdom, an age of triumphant glory to celebrate Christ’s victory. In the kingdom age the lover of Christ, signified by the palanquin, and Christ, signified by its rider, are in a union of triumphant celebration. Christ’s lover is a palanquin (for travel in the day, the kingdom age?Pet. 1:19),a carriage for Christ, made by Christ Himself out of the resurrected, uplifted, and noble humanity (the wood of Lebanon), having God’s nature (gold) as its base, Christ’s redemption (silver) as its supports, and Christ’s kingship (purple) as its seat (S. S. 3:9-10). The inside of the palanquin is inlaid with the love of Christ’s seekers (daughters), signifying that the lover of Christ is one with all the seekers of Christ in love in the principle of the Body of Christ.
