계 1:12-13 나는 나에게 말한 그 음성을 알아보려고 몸을 돌이켰습니다. 몸을 돌이켰을 때에 일곱 금등잔대를 보았는데, 등잔대 사이에 사람의 아들과 같은 분께서 발까지 닿는 옷을 입으시고 가슴에는 금띠를 띠고 계셨습니다.

히 4:15 우리의 대제사장은 우리의 연약함을 동정하실 수 없으신 분이 아니십니다. 그분은 모든 점에서 우리와 마찬가지로 유혹을 받으신 분이시지만, 죄는 없으십니다.

Rev. 1:12-13 And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me; and when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands One like the Son of Man, clothed with a garment reaching to the feet, and girded about at the breasts with a golden girdle.

Heb. 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all respects like us, yet without sin.

그리스도는 … 보살피고 양육하는 최고의 본이시다. … 요한계시록 1장 12절과 13절은 그리스도께서 사람의 아들이 되심으로써 발까지 닿는 옷을 입으시고 등잔대를 돌보시는 것을 보여 준다. 이 옷은 제사장 옷이며(출 28:33-35), 그것은 그리스도께서 우리의 위대한 대제사장이심을 보여 준다.

그분은 또한 가슴에 금띠를 두르셨다. … 구약의 제사장들은 그들의 사역을 위해 허리에 띠를 둘렀다(출 28:4). … 허리에 띠를 두르는 것은 일을 하기 위해 강화되는 것이다. 그리스도는 교회들을 산출하는 그분의 신성한 일을 끝마치셨다. … 오늘날 그리스도는 … 이제 그분의 허리가 아닌, 사랑을 상징하는 그분의 가슴에 띠를 두르시고 … 그분의 수고로 세워진 그분의 교회들을 돌보시는 대제사장이시다.

우리의 대제사장이신 그리스도는 그분이 세우신 교회들을 먼저 그분의 인성 안에서 돌보시고 보살피신다. … 그리스도는 등잔대의 등잔을 정돈하심으로써 교회들을 돌보시고 보살피신다. 구약에 있는 대제사장은 매일 아침 등잔대의 등잔을 정돈했다(출 30:7). 등잔을 정돈하는 것은 등잔을 합당하게 하는 것이다. … 구약에 있는 예표에 따라 제사장들이 했던 것과 마찬가지로(출 25:38), 그리스도도 등잔대의 등잔의 심지를 잘라내심으로 등잔대를 돌보신다. 심지가 타면 검게 된다. 그러므로 제사장이 와서 심지의 검은 부분을 잘라내야 한다. … 그 결과 등잔은 더 밝게 빛을 낸다. 심지의 검게 탄 부분은 우리의 육체와 타고난 사람, 자아, 옛 창조물과 같이 하나님의 목적에 맞지 않아 잘라질 필요가 있는 것들을 상징한다. Christ is the best model of cherishing and nourishing.…[Revelation 1:12-13] shows that Christ is taking care of the lampstands by being the Son of Man with a long garment. This garment is the priestly robe (Exo. 28:33-35), which shows that Christ is our great High Priest.

He is also girded about at the breasts with a golden girdle.… The priests in the Old Testament were girded at the loins for their ministry (Exo. 28:4).…To be girded at the loins is to be strengthened for the work. Christ has finished His divine work in producing the churches.…Today Christ is our High Priest taking care of His churches established by His labor…with the girdle not on His loins but on His breasts, signifying love. Christ as our High Priest takes care of the churches He has established first in His humanity to cherish the churches.…He does this by dressing the lamps of the lampstand. The high priest in the Old Testament dressed the lamps of the lampstands every morning (Exo. 30:7).To dress the lamps is to make them proper.…

Christ [also] cares for the lampstands by trimming the wicks of the lamps of the lampstand, just as the priest did according to the type in the Old Testament (Exo. 25:38). When the wick was burned out it became charred and black, so the priest had to come to cut off the black part of the wick…so that the lamp may shine better. The charred part of the wick, the snuff, signifies things that are not according to God’s purpose which need to be cut off, such as our flesh, our natural man, our self, and our old creation. 구약에서 대제사장은 우리의 대제사장이신 그리스도를 예표한다. 출애굽기에 따르면, 대제사장은 양 어깨와 가슴에 이스라엘 열두 지파의 이름들을 짊어졌다(출 28:9-10, 12). … 오늘날 그리스도는 … 우리를 짊어지시고 붙들고 계시는 대제사장으로서 … 하늘들에 계신다. … 그분은 ‘하나님에 관한 일에 있어서 긍휼이 많으시고 신실하신 대제사장’(히 2:17)이시며, 우리의 연약함을 동정하실 수 있는 대제사장이시다(히 4:15).

대제사장이신 그리스도께서 우리를 돌보고 계시지만, 우리는 모두 그분께서 우리를 어떻게 돌보아 주셔야 한다는 것에 대한 우리 자신의 생각과 느낌을 가지고 있다. … 그러나 우리를 돌보시는 주님의 길은 자주 우리가 원하는 길과 다르다. … 주님은 치료해 달라는 기도에 응답하지 않으실지도 모른다. 주님은 어떤 사람을 돌보실 때 그 사람이 병으로 죽는 것을 허락하실지 모른다. 우리는 어떤 것이 우리에게 좋은 것인지 알지 못하지만 주님은 아신다. 주님은 이 땅에서 우리의 생활을 위해 무엇이 필요한지를 아신다.

그러나 나는 이렇게 말할 수 있다. 우리에 대한 주님의 돌봄은 항상 긍정적이다. 어느 날 우리는 주님을 볼 것이고 주님을 경배할 것이다. 우리 중 어떤 사람들은 주님께 “주 예수여, 저의 상황에 대해 당신께 불평한 것을 용서하소서. 이제 저는 저를 위한 당신의 뜻이 선하다는 것을 압니다.”라고 말할 것이다. 우리의 대제사장은 우리 모두를 잘 돌보아 주신다.

승천하신 그리스도는 우리 자신과 우리의 행복을 관심하실 뿐 아니라, 하나님의 갈망을 관심하신다. 이 대제사장은 우리의 필요보다 하나님의 필요를 더 많이 관심하신다. 하나님은 등잔대(교회)들을 원하신다. 그러므로 주님은 등잔대들을 세우시고 하나님의 표현을 위해 등잔들을 손질하신다(계 1:13, 2:1). 이러한 일은 주님께서 성도들을 온전하게 하시고 교회를 건축하시는 것을 포함한다.

하늘들에 계신 대제사장이신 그리스도의 사역에는 하나의 목적이 있는데, 그것은 바로 새 예루살렘이다. 새 예루살렘은 승천 안에 계신 그리스도의 일의 완결일 것이다. (누가복음 라이프 스타디, 메시지 79, 656-659쪽, 661쪽)

In the Old Testament the high priest typifies Christ as our High Priest. According to the book of Exodus, the high priest bore the names of the twelve tribes of Israel on his shoulders and on his heart…(Exo. 28:9-10, 12).…Today Christ is…in the heavens as the High Priest bearing us and holding us. …He is a “merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God”(Heb.2:17), a High Priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses (Heb.4:15). Although Christ as the High Priest is taking care of us, we all have our own thought and feeling as to how He should care for us.

…However, often the Lord’s way of caring for us is different from what we desire. …The Lord may not answer a prayer for healing. In His care for a certain one, He may allow that one to die of his illness. We do not know what is good for us, but the Lord knows. He knows what is needed for our life on earth.

Nevertheless, I can say this: the Lord’s care for us is always positive. One day we shall see Him and worship Him. Some of us may say to Him, “Lord Jesus, forgive me for complaining to You about my situation. Now I know that God’s will for me is good.” Our High Priest is taking good care of us all.

The ascended Christ cares not only for us and our welfare: He cares for God’s desires. This High Priest cares more for God’s need than for our need. God wants lampstands. Therefore, the Lord establishes lampstands and trims the lamps for the expression of God (Rev. 1:13; 2:1). This work includes His edifying of the saints and His building up of the church.

Christ’s ministry as the High Priest in the heavens has a destination? the New Jerusalem. The New Jerusalem will be the consummation of Christ’s work in His ascension. (Life-study of Luke, pp. 669-673)
